How to remove makeup from clothes.

Ah, makeup. It can do wonders for your complexion but not so much for your clothes. That foundation stain you just noticed on your favorite blouse may have you feeling a bit frazzled, but don't worry—we've got the goods to help you out of this sticky situation!

Step 1: Blot the Stain

The first step in removing a foundation stain from clothing is to blot the affected area with a clean, dry cloth. This will help absorb any excess foundation and prevent it from spreading further into the fabric. You can also use paper towels for this step if necessary. Just make sure not to rub too hard or you could damage the fabric!

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Next, pre-treat the stain by applying a small amount of liquid laundry detergent or washing up liquid (our Washupthings are a gentler alternative to traditional washing up liquid… and is 100% plastic free) directly onto it. Gently massage the detergent into the fabric with your fingertips until it has been fully absorbed. Then let it sit for 15 minutes before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Wash as Usual

Once you have pre-treated and let sit for 15 minutes, you are ready to wash as usual in either hot or cold water depending on what kind of fabric it is (check tags!). We recommend using Laundrythings (plastic-free, planet positive pods). Once finished washing, check to see if there are still any traces of foundation left before drying as normal in either a machine or air-drying outside (depending on weather). If there are still some stains left after washing, repeat steps 1 and 2 until they have been completely removed.

So don't despair—a little bit of pre-treatment and elbow grease can go a long way towards getting rid of those tough foundation stains.
