How do I clean my kitchen sink? What's the best way to clean a sink?
We've all heard the old adage that a clean home is a happy home. But what about the kitchen sink? Sure, you wash your dishes in there every day and scrub it down with soap and water, but how often do you give it a deep clean? If you're like most people, not nearly enough. Here's how to get your kitchen sink looking spotless again!
Step 1: Scrub Away Grease and Grime
Before you start scrubbing away at that grime build-up, make sure to cover any exposed skin on your hands and arms so that you don’t get any of the cleaning solution on them. Then mix together equal parts baking soda and white vinegar in a bowl or cup and apply it to the sink using a sponge or cloth. Let the mixture sit for at least 15 minutes before scrubbing off with a non-abrasive pad or sponge - we like to use Spongethings (100% compostable, so you can clean up the planet as well as your kitchen). This will help break up any grease or grime that has built up over time.
Step 2: Sanitize With Bleach
Once you’ve removed as much of the built-up gunk as possible, it’s time to sanitize your sink with some bleach solution. To make this solution, mix one tablespoon of bleach per gallon of hot water in a spray bottle and spray directly onto the surface of your sink. Allow it to sit for five minutes before wiping down with a damp cloth or paper towel. Make sure to rinse away any excess bleach with warm water afterwards!
Step 3: Rinse With Hot Water
Finally, give your kitchen sink one last rinse with hot water—this will help ensure all of the cleaning solutions are thoroughly rinsed out of your sink so they won’t leave behind any residue when drying. Now stand back and admire your handiwork—you can now be proud knowing that your kitchen sink is sparkling clean!
So next time you’re looking for something productive to do around the house, why not start by giving your kitchen sink some TLC? You won’t regret it!
