OUR ECO-FRIENDLY AD
WHY AREN'T ALL ADS 'GREEN'?
When we think of the negative affects of adverts on the environment, it might be the products shown and or messaging (aka greenwashing) that people tend to think about first. But the advertising production industry is actually.
The average advert campaign production can produced up to 35 tons of carbon emissions, because of travel, use of electrical generators, and keeping lighting and camera equipment on for long periods of time. When costumes, catering and paper for scripts is taken into account, the amount of physical waste can also be pretty hefty.
SO... HOW DID WE ECO IT UP?
We got to work thinking about how we could still make things high quality, with low emissions and waste. And these were the solutions we found…
We filmed everything in one day, on one London location.
Everyone travelled to and from the location by public transport or electric vehicles.
No generators were used to power the tech on site.
All costumes and props were borrowed, rented, or second-hand (even including the sparkly boxers shorts).
All catering on the day was vegan and packaged in 100% recyclable or compostable containers.
And to clean up afterwards we used… you guessed it… Homethings products. Single-use-plastic free, waterless, cruelty-free, and vegan.
All of these switches adhered to guidelines set out by the company AdGreen, that aims to help companies eliminate the negative environmental impacts of the ad production industry. Pretty snazzy.
